Skid Row-Downtown LA

Last week we had an awesome event at work. We celebrated the opening of a new center for the homeless women of Skid Row.
For those who don't live in LA, Skid Row is a district of downtown LA .The area contains one of the largest stable populations of homeless persons in the USA!!!

This is one of the reasons nobody lives in downtown, you find people going to work during the day and homelessness and crime at night. A rough area....yep.
Anyway, the mayor was there, a lot of media too and we had lots of fun with all those nice ladies who were extremely happy and hyper , ready to use their new homes for the first time.

Birthday Party

Getting ready for a birthday party is always complicated.
The only thing I had clear in my mind was the place to get the cake....Porto's Bakery- The best bakery in Los Angeles county.....the best quality-price you can find around. It's ridiculous....All those cakes, empanadas, potato balls, cheesy rolls, .....damnt! Everything tastes delicious.

Last weekend I made my first cinnamon rolls. I loved every single dessert that has cinnamon in it but the rolls is one of my favorite ones.
Here it is one of the best recipes I have ever tried in my life. Better than the ones from Cinnabon!
Can't wait for the weekend....going to NYC!!! Hurray!

Country Strong

Yewhhaaa! I am country fan! Yes....
I am not a redneck and I wasnt born in Austin or Nashville. I just love this genre with all my heart. When I was 11 I discovered this music and fell in love with it. My heart keeps beating fast and I still get goosebumps when I listen to a good country song.

Last night we saw the CMA's, the most important awards in the country music industry and I was Sooo excited to watch them live and on HD! :)...
Miranda Lambert really 'revolutionized' the night and I am lucky to say that in the last couple years I saw all the most important singers from the night in concert...some of my favorites!!! so I enjoyed the awards more than ever...
Just wanted to congratulate a Hollywood actress for showing to the world one of her skills,,,and it wasnt 'acting'...Even though I heard the song before ( its #1 on every country station)...I have to say that Gwyneth Paltrow surprised everybody with her music skills...She was shy, excited and nervous but her voice didnt failed her.
Enjoy the video!!

Ready for Halloween!

Last night we took a stroll around the neighborhood to see the Halloween decorations.
We found the most amazing house in the world. I am sure they spent more than a couple bucks on it. WOW...it was simply amazing. They had a all kind of lights, sounds, a cemetery, millions of pumpkins, a witch, skeletons hanging from the trees, etc etc....
I LOVE HALLOWEEN!

The Sun in SF

About a year ago I took these pics in my first trip to San Francisco.(note: pics are not edited)
I have to say that I in my opinion, I think that this city is totally overrated....I mean, IT IS a beautiful city, but I think that people usually come back from SF extremely fascinated with it. First of all, it looks too European to me, second ITS TOO COLD and third ....people ( not gonna get into this lol).
My favorite memories from this trip were: the people I was traveling with and the SUN --- the sunsets from the Golden Gate were the most fascinating part of this city.
I am too tired today...luckily this week will go by fast and well be celebrating Halloween faster than I can think of. Costumes are ready...so I am ready to party!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a good week!
